The oldest Corps, 1726 Courtenay/Comox, was established in 1940 by Lieutenant Colonel D. Hunden. The Corps became affiliated with the 62nd Anti-Tank Battery (Royal Canadian Artillery) after the war and then in 1954 with ‘C’ Company of the Regiment. In 1964, 1726’s affiliation was transferred to ‘B’ Company in Nanaimo, which maintains a Platoon in Courtney. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17 (Courtney) has been its long time sponsor.
